1. The Apollo 11 Mission took place in 1969. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin (Not Lightyear) became the first people to set foot on the moon. This was during the "Space Race" a feud going on between the United States and the Soviet Union. While The U.S.S.R. launched the first man into space, the United States claims the title of first to set foot on the moon. The shuttle departed on July 16th, 1969 and landed on July 19th.

2. The Cuban Missile Crisis took place in 1962. It involved the Soviet Union, the United States, and the nearby island of Cuba. Cuba, like the Soviet Union was communist. Their leader was and still is Fidel Castro. Because of Cuba's close proximity to Florida, the U.S. panicked. They attempted to invade Cuba, however it failed miserably. While nothing resulted, it was still a major scare to the government. Cuba is still communist today, while the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

3. The Berlin Wall was put up in 1961. Its purpose was to prevent West Germany from entering East Germany. It was patrolled by soldiers, and surrounded by barbed wire and cinder blocks. It separated the two sides from 1961 until 1989 when it was torn down. Over the years, the wall saw much vandalism including graffiti, cracking, etc. In 1989 Mikhail Gorbachev was the leader of the Soviet Union. After disputes with president Ronald Reagan, the Soviet Union tore down the wall.
