1. The Sepoy Rebellion was an uprising that took place in India during 1857. During this time, India was part of Britain, along with many other countries in South Asia. India was not fond of British rule and as a result began to fight them. The real battle began its test when the rifles supplied to India were reportedly dipped in grease from cow and pig fat. This caused a stir because the main religion in India is Hindu, a religion where you aren't supposed to eat beef. Although Britain won the short war, it is considered to be the first fight for Indian independence.

2. Gold and Diamond mining was popular in South Africa during the age of imperialism. South Africa was a popular destination for European miners in the 1870s and 1880s and continued to be for many more decades. South Africa today has almost half of the worlds mining reserves. Diamonds were first discovered in South Africa in 1867 in Kimberly, which is near the Northern Cape. While South Africa didn't gain its own independence for years, it did become a continental wide stop, for money, and other purposes."South Africa - Gold and Diamonds." South Africa - Gold and Diamonds. U.S, Library of Congress, n.d. Web. 06 June 2014. This website helped me find out more information on diamond and gold mining in South Africa. It told me about how the reason they went down there was to gain profit from jewels, and it discussed where it stands economically as a country today.
3. Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2nd, 1869. He is considered to be the symbol for independence in India. He used peaceful means as a way to gain India's independence from Britain. Before this however, he moved to Britain to study and become a lawyer. While trying to gain independence, Gandhi held marches. This included the Salt March. As a result of the Salt March, Gandhi was arrested. Eventually, he was released. During the independence movement, Winston Churchill didn't want to lose India as a British Colony. After India gained its freedom there were still a series of disputes between the Hindu and Muslim people. Gandhi went around India in order to try and maintain peace, however it was not successful. The violence did die down a bit, however Gandhi was assassinated in 1948.
